Gilt Metal Framed Handmade Souvenir of First Communion Presentation Card - Mixed Media Lily of the Valley & Young Girl

Starting with a mid century era gilt metal frame, I added the mixed media collage that is visible on the underside of the glass.

The base is (if I remember correctly) a tulle covered moire taffeta. Over that, I placed a section of modern paper. Over that I placed a portion of a FRENCH Victorian First Communion card of a young girl holding bible, candlestick and rosary in hand. Above that image, I placed a portion of a FRENCH booklet - a SOUVENIR DE PREMIERE COMMUNION - featuring a spray of Lily of the Valley. And over almost everything I placed some taupe rayon ribbon and a gold Dresden Butterfly.  The Gold Dresden Butterfly is C.1960. The Victorian Die Cuts (floral and First Communion Girl) are C.1890. The Lily of the Valley "frame" is C.1880. The taupe rayon ribbon is C.1960. The back papers and tulle are modern.

The front of the frame is perfect and sets off the inside collage perfectly. The backing of the frame is faux flocked velvet with the original easel; there are light scuff marks in a couple of places indicating the frame is one of age and NOT brand new! The backing is a simple "pull out - push in" piece which means the inside contents can be removed easily, if desired.

The inside contents are perfect! NOTE: Please do not expect something all "shiny and new". This is a repurposed item that has the look of vintage and so, a patina of age will be present!

The frame measures 7" wide x 9" high. The image size is 4-1/2" wide x 6-1/2" high.

Each individual piece of the collage was cut by hand, placed carefully and hand glued. The piece is as clean as possible for presentation. With all things handmade, the finished product took 3 days to complete allowing for the glue to dry over time. With care, this Souvenir should last the same amount of time as any First Communion Souvenir from the past - about 100 years!

ONE OF A KIND and not to be reproduced again! The components of the collage are not easily found and when I do manage to find "parts" because they are antique, I have to pay for the privilege. I can make no apology for my asking price and hope that those who can comprehend what they are seeing will understand. This is an item to last a lifetime!
