Walnut Salt Box, Salt Cellar

These salt boxes are handmade from domestic hardwoods, they incorporate very detailed box joints in their construction. Although they have an almost delicate look because of this joinery, they are very durable. The color and grain patterns vary within the same board, so there will be differences in appearance from cellar to cellar. They measure 5” x 3” x 3” tall. The finish is food safe and is a combination of pure tung oil and pure Brazilian carnauba wax (not to be confused with the wax you use on your car). Carnauba wax is popularly used to keep candy coatings shiny, as well as protecting them against melting – it’s what makes sure the M&Ms melt in your mouth and not in your hand.
