Art Deco Frame with Mixed Media Collage - Antique Victorian Die Cut of Baby Jesus and Angel | Miracles Happen When You Believe

AGE: The Die Cut is C.1890 - the Frame is C.1930

ITEM: Found in an estate sale here in St. Louis, I was struck by how well the Victorian Die Cut looked in this Art Deco frame. The back paper was crumbling so it had to be removed and, while doing that, well, I saw that the die cut needed a little TLC. So I placed it on a paper background and covered the "bad" area with the sentiment you see - MIRACLES HAPPEN WHEN YOU BELIEVE. The Victorian image is of the Baby Jesus bestowing a blessing on a small child - an Angel kneels nearby. In the background, a Christmas tree with lighted candles. Once I put the image in place, I closed the back with a sheet of paper. The picture can be reopened but the back paper would have to be torn in order to replace the image.

CONDITION: Very nice - a small bit of wood missing in the frame but it's not in a place where you see right away and certainly doesn't interfere with the overall look of the piece; a touch of paint will cover the thin line that might show in the photos. No chips or. cracks to the original glass; black painted underside has no holes. Victorian image is very nice and I'm sorry that my pics are not as CRISP as they should be - the glass really interfered with my getting the camera into focus.

SIZE: Frame measures 4-11/16" x 5-3/4".
